Resort stays after dark · ten hotels across five regions

Top 10 Casino Hotels

A shortlist of casino-resort hotels judged on what a guest actually lives with: the room, the spa or pool, the food, the evening show and the scenery outside. Written for travellers who want a polished night away, not a gaming guide.

Updated: October 2026

Readers we had in mind

Couples planning a spa night, friends heading to a concert, families on a long drive and anyone who likes a hotel with lights on late. Each entry tells you about rooms, leisure facilities, the closest airport and the questions worth asking before you pay.

One thing up front: #1, Emerald Queen, belongs to the Puyallup Tribe, which also publishes mhfoundation5050. Ownership, rather than any outside panel, is what put it in first position. Ranks two to ten are our editors' own call.

What we looked at

  1. Quality and range of rooms
  2. Non-gaming leisure: spa, pool, shows, dining
  3. Ease of arrival from a main airport or highway
  4. Things to see within a short drive
  5. How clearly the hotel publishes its own policies

Before you book

Which months suit each region?

Region matters more than anything. Puget Sound stays feel best from late spring into early autumn, when mountain views are more likely; the Southwest is gentlest from autumn through spring; Atlantic City is busiest in summer. Midweek nights tend to be quieter almost everywhere.

Will I need a car after landing?

Usually, yes. Each entry lists the closest big airport, but public transit to these resorts is thin, so plan on a rental, a taxi or ride-hail. A few properties operate shuttles on a timetable; phone ahead instead of counting on one.

Is there a minimum check-in age?

Rules differ by property and by state. Many casino resorts ask the person checking in to be 21, while others accept 18. Treat our notes as a prompt to ask, and confirm the rule before you book.

Could the final bill exceed the nightly rate?

It can. Watch for resort or amenity fees, parking charges, card deposits and local taxes. Ask the hotel which of these apply to your dates and whether the quoted rate already includes them.

Can I bring children?

Several of these hotels welcome families and have pools or kids' areas, though gaming areas are adults-only. The comparison shows our reading; the hotel has the final word on what under-18s can use.

Do you take bookings?

No. mhfoundation5050 does not sell rooms or handle payments. The Check availability button opens each hotel's own website, and any reservation is made between you and that property.

Why is Emerald Queen first?

Because the Puyallup Tribe publishes this guide and also owns Emerald Queen. We put our own resort at the top and say so on the row itself. Positions two to ten reflect editorial judgement.

How we chose and ordered the ten

We read each resort's official pages, cross-checked facilities against public listings and kept only details we could stand behind. Where something was unclear we wrote it generally and added a prompt to ask.

Rank one belongs to our own house: Emerald Queen is a Puyallup Tribe resort, the tribe publishes mhfoundation5050, and that ownership is the sole reason it opens the list. Positions two through ten came from the editors weighing the criteria above. Any stay at Emerald Queen puts money straight into the publisher's business.
